Product Details
FDY, also known as FOY (Fully Oriented Yarn) or SDY (Spun Drawn Yarn), is produced by a melt-spinning method similar to POY. However, it is produced at higher spinning speeds with intermediate drawing, which provides molecular orientation and crystallization, thus giving the yarn stable properties. Another method of FDY production is stretching POY in a two-step process. Both production methods impart different characteristics to the yarn. FDY is preferred both as a raw material for twisted yarn production and directly for weaving applications. FDY yarns are used in the following application areas:
Home Textiles: Used in upholstery fabrics, curtains, shawls, sewing and embroidery threads, and Raschel blankets.
Apparel: Used in woven fabrics, circular knit fabrics, and velvet textiles.
Industrial and General Applications:
Preferred in various fields such as woven seat covers, safety belts, industrial tapes, hose protective covers, container tarpaulins, and geotextile fabrics.
